Summer 2009

As I drew within sight of the bridge, I saw a display of posters showing old, grainy photographs of the bridge. The posters also tell a bit of the story of the railroad and the bridge, although they don't seem to necessarily be in order. I found it a little curious that in the same area as these posters, which can evoke such deep emotions, there was an outlet shop selling modern shoes and clothes--at anything but outlet store type prices.
At last, some pictures of the bridge itself. Somehow it seemed a bit smaller than I was expecting, considering how much trouble it caused.
Here are some vehicles apparently used on the railroad at the time of its construction.
